Working from my studio overlooking the Frome valley in Dorset. My work is influenced by my Dorset garden, the Dorset countryside and the many gardens I have visited. I am constantly inspired by Gertrude Jekyll (1843-1932) who was an influential horticulturist, garden designer, artist and writer. She 'painted' with her planting using colour, shape and texture to design over 400 gardens.
Working mainly with acrylic paint, inks and collage on canvas, I build layers of texture within the paint which give depth to each painting and a wide and variable colour range. I try to capture 'moments' or 'glimpses' of views which encourage the viewer to look more deeply into the scene and to engage with the possibility of what else they can find beyond the 'moment'
I accept commissions and am happy to discuss your ideas to create an orginal painting just for you. This website shows some of the work that I have recently completed including commissions, contact me for a commission quote or to buy direct from the gallery.
I provide tuition for artists at all levels, run workshops and am available to give presentations to art groups. I am a Professional Associate of the SAA.
Why not commission a painting of your house and garden or a favourite view and choose the colour scheme of your choice?
New work is added to my website and Facebook page on a regular basis, I have a blog which you can access above and you can also follow me on Twitter @allergictonuts
